Overview

“Let’s Talk about Disability” is a three-part program created and delivered in the Limestone Coast
by local young people with lived experience of disability.
It aims to provide students in grades 4-10 with a foundational knowledge of disability, accessibility,
and inclusion, empowering them to make a positive difference in their communities.
The program is:

  • Free of charge
  • Designed to fit into a 90-minute double lesson
  • Interactive, fun, and educational
  • Reviewed by SA Dept. of Education staff
  • Delivered by experienced volunteer facilitators with current WWCCs

Program Contents

Each session features the following:
1) A 25-minute interactive presentation covering the basics of disability, accessibility, and inclusion
2) 40 minutes of activities simulating potential aspects of a variety of disabilities
3) 25 minutes of group discussion, with further information, opportunities for students to learn about next steps, and brainstorm changes that could make their communities more accessible and inclusive
