Let’s talk about disability!

A pilot program created by young people with lived experience of disability, aimed at de-stigmatising, and educating on what is often seen as an ‘uncomfortable’ or ‘taboo’ subject.

The program was created by Limestone Coast locals with lived experience of disability after two members attended the 2020 Heywire Summit. There, they were inspired by the “Just Relax” Heywire group who wanted to make places more accessible for people with mobility issues.

Though the group loved the idea, we wanted to focus our cause on educating students and empowering them to make change in their community.

Most of our original group members experienced difficulties at school, which became a source of motivation behind this project.

The group interpreted the “Just Relax” into “Just Relax: Let’s Talk About Disability” program and applied for an FRRR ABC Heywire Youth Innovation Grant with the support of the Stand Like Stone Foundation,

Our team spent time developing the program through Covid, putting a lot of time, energy, and personal experience into their passion project.

Spreading awareness and de-stigmatising disability is something we’re all proud to be a part of, and we love getting to work with students!

In partnership with Stand Like Stone Foundation, and funded by an FRRR ABC Youth Innovation Grant.

Our Vision
