The team behind “Let’s Talk About Disability” are a dedicated group of volunteers who live with various forms of disability.
Our lived experiences motivated us to develop this project to spread awareness and build acceptance, starting with young people.
Meet our program coordinators, Tessa & Ally.
Tessa Deak
Tessa Deak is a Mount Gambier based
disability advocate and creative. Since 2014, she has experienced a chronic illness which changes her body’s ability to function normally, and she uses a wheelchair and walker to assist her. Tessa is very passionate about educating and empowering young
people to be changemakers in their community.
Ally Finnis
Ally is neurodivergent and, since 2010, has lived with a vestibular condition which causes variable disability. They believe in
education’s potential to inspire meaningful change. In addition to their work in disability, mental health, healthcare consumer and youth spaces, Ally is a disability inclusion training facilitator with
JFA Purple Orange.
